Mark Minchinton
Mark Minchinton is Associate Professor, Performance Studies, School of Human Movement, Recreation & Performance, Victoria University, Melbourne, where he oversees the postgraduate program and is Division Manager. Mark has worked as a performer/performance maker for many years after beginning with the Australian Performing Group at the Pram Factory in the late 1970’s.
Apart from freelance work around Australia in theatre, film, and television, he has worked with a number of companies or groups on a more permanent basis---including The Actors’ Development Stream at Playbox with Rex Cramphorn, and The Mill Theatre Company with Richard Murphet---and on experimental and creative development projects with many artists, including Jude Walton and Elizabeth Drake.
He has worked as an artist-in-residence, or as a visiting/sessional lecturer, or examiner at, amongst others, the Melbourne, Monash, La Trobe, Deakin, Sydney, Western Sydney, and Edith Cowan universities, VCA School of Drama, and the VCA School of Dance. He writes articles and catalogue articles and is on the editorial board of the international journal Performance Research. In 2003 he will complete a Creative Development grant on a multi-media project funded by Arts Victoria, and will be an Artist-in-Residence and Visiting Post-Doctoral Fellow at the School of Contemporary Arts, Edith Cowan University, where he will make a 600plus kilometre walking/writing project, Void: Kellerberrin Walking, commissioned for the National Review of Live Art, Midland.
